Motorhome Insurance
I read an article in Insurance Times a few weeks ago where the financial ombudsman had said that he would support a policyholder against the insurer, excluding claims for leaving keys in or near a vehicle. I then wondered if the same would apply to a motor home.
On a recent motorhome holiday my family and I had had a late night playing cards and when we eventually turned in, we were all very tired and so we woke up the next day already late for our arranged meeting with our friends and fellow motor-homers the Wilsons. Then of course we had the morning rush and the queue for the shower and by the time we were ready to leave our friends had decided to explore the countryside without us.
I then realised I had no idea where the keys were so I looked for them, and couldn't find them. My family then joined in the search and in my usual calm and patient manner I accused each family member of stealing them, then moved on to accusations of half-hearted searching before finally accepting my son's version of events which was that aliens must have come from mars and stolen the keys to our motorhome. So I then went to the cab to get my mobile so I could call my insurance company for help. I was stranded in a field with a grumpy family and to make matters worse, it was about to rain.
Holidaying On A Yacht At Sea
Taking a yachting holiday means living on a seafaring boat for days or weeks. But because yachting is traditionally a luxury setting, we regularly consider yachting to be the same as living in a five star hotel that is also free to wander the high seas. But the truth is there will be a different way of living on a liner and even the most spacious and lush yacht is still a seafaring vessel and it's good to expect that lifestyle and be prepared.
There are little considerations when packing for your yachting holiday. Besides being certain to pack your swimming suit, you have to keep in the mind that you are at sea and no sort of luxury or spending can keep the sea from making waves under the boat. So if you are prone to seasickness, the proper medicines should be brought along and taken before you take your foot off of dry land. Of course, any good yacht will have medical facilities and your crew will keep a watch on everyone onboard, especially if you are new to yachting. But it's's best if you expect the need so you do not have to go through a bad experience.
Insuring Your Motorhome For Any Occassion
If you're an old insurance man like me, going grey and still carrying a liking for old early 70's bands like soft machine and caravan, then you probably think that you've seen the last of your summer music festivals with nights spent cramped under the canvas of a tent and waking up with aches and cramps in places you didn't know existed! However, another way to go is to take your motorhome (or somebody else's) along to the festival and enjoy the music and the atmosphere without the nights spent on the floor under canvas.
What many people have found with the motorhome route that you get the best of both worlds really because you can enjoy the atmosphere of the festival and of course the live music, but you get a cup of tea every morning, there are no queues for toilets and showers and you have a comfortable, dry bed to sleep on every night!
Many motorhome owners rent out their motorhomes for just this type of event with most not realising that any such hiring of their motorhome for "hire & reward" purposes will not be covered under their standard motorhome insurance policy.
Travel Light With Your Electric Powered Scooter
Scooters are low upkeep cars. You don't have to worry about space in the garage if you are the owner of a scooter, and never again will you have to fuss over heavy-traffic.
Indeed, scooters can maneuver thru the tightest of jams and take you to anyplace you want without fear of getting stuck and becoming extremely late somewhere. To add, you may kiss slippery automobile parking slots goodbye.
As if scooters are still not great machines, some cutting edge minds have come up with electrical powered scooters. The product is comparatively new so not everyone might already know about it. In reality, we rarely see electrical powered scooters cruising the streets. But that doesn't discount the incontrovertible fact that they're really practical to use, especially at a time gas and oil prices are showing no evidence of backtracking.
An electrical powered scooter, as its name endorses, is run using electricity. The unit is hooked up to an outlet, charged and then used. If the battery shows signs of weakening, you will need to recharge so it does not conk out on you in the middle of the boonies.
The Wrecker by Clive Cussler and Justin Scott
"The Isaac Bell Novels" is a new hit series by "one of the greatest adventure novelists of our time" (imdb), Clive Cussler. The Wrecker is the sequel to the successful first Isaac Bell novel, titled The Chase. (The next release in the series is scheduled for June 1, 2010.)
The main character of the of this new Clive Cussler series is a detective by the name of Isaac Bell, a fearless figure of physical prowess equaling James Bond who simultaneously possesses observational skills and powers of deduction rivaling Sherlock Holmes.
As luck would have it, Isaac Bell is an independently wealthy heir of a major American banking family, his detective work more of a passion and obsession than a job-for-money.
In The Wrecker, Isaac Bell gets hired to stop a saboteur targeting the Southern Pacific Railroad, threatening to financially "derail" the mega-corporation as they push to build a new and expensive cutoff track that will greatly decrease traveling time between the northern and southern portions of the American West Coast.
The villain known as The Wrecker may be every bit as brilliant as Isaac Bell himself, reminiscent of Sherlock Holmes' arch-nemesis Professor Moriarty. Up until the end of the novel, The Wrecker hides in plain sight within the circles of Southern Pacific Railroad president Osgood Hennessy.
The Versatility Of Caravan Insurance
"For girls who go plump in the night" is the rather strange title of an album by 1970's rock band Caravan, which is not the kind of thing you would expect an insurance man to know, even if he does actually own one, (a caravan I mean!) An insurance man in a caravan is probably not that unusual but an insurance man in a caravan listening to Caravan? Surely not!
Although I'm not entirely sure why I start thinking about this, I'm pretty sure it's because I was looking back at some photos of last year's Glastonbury festival the other day and I noticed just how many caravans were there in one get-up or another. Being an insurance man, I was of course thinking about the cover they had and whether or not the underwriters knew exactly what they were being used for.
If memory serves me correctly there were caravans being lived in, housing first aid helpers, acting as tea shops (and I don't mean mobile catering units, I mean caravans, proper ones with curtains) used as rest homes for tired musicians and even as the home of paid for showers.
The Importance Of Having Caravan Insurance
Chester Cooke was a man who one day decided that he wanted to have a caravan on the banks of the river Avon in a perfectly situated caravan site that was professionally owned, well maintained and had all the amenities that he could ask for. However, he wasn't the type to go spending the best part of twenty grand plus annual services on a caravan without properly thinking it through.
He phoned his broker and asked about caravan insurance who told him that there shouldn't be any problem and the broker would be delighted to give Chester a quote. Chester gave the broker details about the type, value and size of the caravan and where it would be situated.
It was only a few minutes before the broker called him back and said that he unfortunately could not find him any caravan insurance. The reason was that although the caravan site itself was fine, it was the particular spot that Chester wanted that was the problem. It was next to the river Avon, right at the water's edge, and last year it had flooded which caused lots of insurance claims, meaning that now, insurers are unwilling to offer any insurance to caravans places right on the water's edge. If he was going to buy the caravan, it was going to be entirely at his own risk.
Caravan Insurance Advice You Should Know
Going on holiday in a caravan is great fun for all ages. In order to make sure that you get the most from your caravan you need to have insurance for it. This will protect your caravan against it being stolen or damaged in some way. If this is something you are considering here is some straightforward and simple caravan insurance advice.
Initially you will need to think about the type of insurance you require. If you have a caravan that you tour in you will need to opt for a certain sort of policy. If you own a static caravan you will need a policy that covers this.
Many people forget to include costly items that are stored in the caravan. So when you are looking at premiums you need to mention these. There are too many people who overlook what they have in their caravan, so don't fall into this trap when you purchase your insurance.
If you like to visit new places with your caravan why not opt for insurance that offers members benefits. These can include monthly magazines with caravaning news in it or special offers for various sites. More insurers than you think will offer these types of incentives, so take a look at them.

Finding Jet Skis On the Second-hand Market
A newly released jet ski can be a costly investment so it is often a benefit to search out alternatives, such as the thriving second-hand market or repo watercrafts for sale. This ensures that finances are not stretched to the limit, and offers a solution to locate the most cost-effective, and yet still feature packed PWC on the market.
Purchasing a pre-owned jet ski in full working, mechanical, and with a great overall cosmetic appearance often aids in saving a tidy sum of money. Second-hand PWC are to be found at a vast array of sources. Common options include traders and dealers in jet skis, in online or local paper advertisements, or well-known websites such as eBay or Craigslist.
It is always wise to go look to see what you are buying. Make sure the personal watercraft is in a clean and working order and in need of minimal work, if any. In addition, these second-hand models often come equipped with an assortment of accessories that the owner may no longer have a need for, such as a trailer, cover, and spare parts.
